AUGSBURG V BORUSSIA DORTMUND PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Augsburg has made a shocking start to their Bundesliga season so far with just 1 win from 10 matches.  They are rooted to the bottom of the table with 6 points and are already 4 points away from safety.  They have lost 2 of their last 5 games, with 2 draws and 1 win, this is an obvious improvement on their first 5 games where they drew 1 and lost 4 but they still need more.  They have seen an average of just 1.6 goals per game over their last 5 and only 1 has been over 2.5 goals.

Borussia Dortmund are aiming to win their 3^rd straight Bundesliga title but find themselves being left behind by leaders Bayern Munich.  Dortmund are currently in 5^th place with 16 points from 10 matches, they have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 2.  This leaves them a huge 11 points off the leaders and 4 points off a top 3 place.  Their last 5 matches have seen 2 wins, 2 draws and one defeat.  There has been an average of 2.4 goals in those games and just 2 have finished with over 2.5 goals.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Augsburg barely survived last year, finishing just a few points ahead of the relegation zone in 14^th place.  This season they brought in a number of players, spending a few million, looking to avoid the relegation fight completely.  It has gone the opposite way though and they have been the worst team in the division so far and look sure things for relegation on their current form. 

Dortmund have been fantastic for the past few seasons but is winning the title again for a 3^rd year against teams with more resources a step too far?  For the second season in a row they have lost one of their most influential midfielders, Nuri Sahin in 2011 and Kagawa this summer.  They brought in the excellent Marco Reus as a replacement and he has arguably performed even better this year.

In the league Dortmund has struggled to keep up with Bayern Munich who are looking like the quality side in the division.  In the Champions League however Dortmund are playing fantastic and top their group that includes Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ajax.  Their concentration seems torn, if they invest all their energy in the Champions League it could mean the end of their title challenge domestically so they need to manage both campaigns carefully.
