Schalke 04 v Borussia Dortmund predictions
Schalke 04 seems to have shaken off their lenghty form blip. Two wins in a row in the Bundesliga, and a decent effort away in the Champions League indicate the Gelsenkirchen outfit is back to their best. Here they will miss Jermaine Jones who has been an in-form player for them. He is suspended. Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Ibrahim Affelay are still sidelined. Schalke is still in the hunt for a Champions League spot.
Dortmund is seventeen points behind Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich. That hasn't stopped this talented squad from performing well lately in the Bundesliga. I don't see that changing here either. Dortmund is still not entirely sure of a Champions League spot next season, so they got to keep their performances up. It is definitely a plus for them that they already have progressed to the Champions League Quarter Finals. Mats Hummels should be back leading the defensive line. Midfield anchor Sven Bender however will sit this one out as he got injured against Shakhtar in midweek.
Last season Schalke vs Dortmund ended 1-2. The reverse fixture this season yielded yet another 2-1 result. This time in favor of Schalke 04. That was a very entertaining game between two sides with great offensive qualities.

Schalke 04 has superb offensive qualities with Huntelaar, Bastos and Draxler in particular. Bastos has scored three goals in five for Schalke, and he still probably will improve. The question is will they be spurred on by their recent resurrection, or will they save energy for the clash against Galatasaray.
Dortmund is a through and through quality side. I accept that no matter what, they got to be favorites for this tie. However, looking at the odds in the market I can't help feel they are over valued. Odds around 2.00 (1/1) just seem to low when they are facing a quality side like Schalke away, no matter what the setting.
Betsson Sportsbook, offers 3.65 (53/20) for the home win. I just think that is too high for this quality side. Yes, I do get the Champions League angle. But; Schalke is a top German side, they are back after a horrible run of form. They are playing Dortmund, which should be motivation in itself, and they are playing in front of their own fans.
