Stuttgart (8-8-16) need just a point to guarantee survival, and coach Stevens has done a fine job since stepping in. Just two defeats in nine is impressive stuff, including three vital wins. A good win over Schalke a couple of weeks back is a measure of their capabilities, and a similar level of performance will be needed to triumph in this. Wolfsburg (16-6-10) still harbour hopes of a top four finish, and Champions league qualification, but probably need to win both their remaining games to have a chance of getting it. A home draw last week to Freiburg could prove costly come the end of the season, especially as they led twice in the game. Wolfsburg have the best of recent meetings of these sides with five wins in the last seven played. Niedermeier(def) is suspended for Stuttgart, and Malanda(mid) is out injured for Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg have really impressed me on the occasions I have watched them this season, and I think they could be a real force next season, though they still have all to play for with two games to go of this term. Stuttgart barring an absolute disaster scenario look safe now, and it could just be a good time to play them. Wolfsburg can stamp their class, and show the extra urgency to grab a vital three points.
