BATE v Valencia predictions and preview: Betting stats
BATE sit top of both the Belarusian Premier Division and Group F of the Champions League. Their league form is WDWWW and they have two very good wins to their name in the CL so far; 3-1 away at Lille and 3-1 at home to Bayern. Their domestic matches are low scoring at an average of just 2.12 with 9 over 2.5 goals and 16 under whilst their CL games have both seen 4 goals each.
Valencia are inconsistent with domestic form of WLWLW which leaves them 9th in La Liga with just 11 points from their opening 8 games. In the CL group they are 2nd on goal difference after a 2-1 defeat away at Bayern and a 2-0 home win against Lille. Their league games average 2.75 goals (3 over 2.5; 4 under) whilst their CL games average 2.50 goals.
These two sides have never met before but BATE have a poor record against Spanish opposition, losing all 6 previous encounters at an aggregate score of 18-1; not helped by 5-0 and 4-0 defeats to Barcelona last season.
Team News and Run of Play
BATE seem to have a full strength squad including goalscoring midfielders Bressan and Baga available to them while Valencia will welcome back Rami after his suspension for a red card on Matchday 1. They will also have Banega back after a long lay-off with a broken leg sustained in a freak accident. Piatti and Canales will not feature.
BATE have won the last 6 Belarusian titles but it must be said they are by far and away the strongest side in the country. However their CL form has been nothing but a walk in the park. They have had 12 consecutive games without a win in the competition until the season where they have begun magnificently seeing off Lille and Bayern Munich. They did have an incredible 18 match unbeaten run in all competitions until a shock cup defeat to Torpedo Zhodino last week.
Valencia have not a league start this poor since 1999 and it just so happens that that year they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. They haven’t been firing on all cylinders in any competition this season and it shows, with poor goal tallies all round. Jonas has been their saving grace in this competition but he hasn’t got the goals in La Liga so far. They have so far amassed the joint lowest amount of shots on target (5) but have taken their chances, scoring 3 of them.
This game will be a very interesting watch, with Valencia without an away win in a competitive match since March; in the meantime picking up 10 defeats and just 2 draws. BATE have done enough to take their victories so far. Just 38% possession against Bayern and their ‘keeper being named man of the match after a stellar performance says a lot.
BATE v Valencia predictions: 1X2 betting preview
For me, despite the away side being favourites, I will stick my neck out here and go for a home win. BATE have been simply superb in what they’ve set out to do in the CL so far and I think they have the confidence and momentum to do so again and beat a side that is lacking in either trait this season. I suspect they will end their drought against Spanish sides. For me a BATE win represents the value bet in the match market at 3.83 with Pinnacle.
If you agree they will maintain that 100% record, bet it here.
BATE v Valencia predictions: Asian Handicap preview
Obviously since I fancy the underdogs to take the win here I cannot go against them in the Asian Handicap market. BATE (+0.5), the same as the ‘Double Chance’ market, is 1.855 with Pinnacle and for me that represents real value just in case they can’t secure the win.
If you doubt Valencia’s credentials for the win, take the bet at Pinnacle.
BATE v Valencia predictions: Total Goals preview
Once again, I’m going to go for the outside bet in the over/under 2.5 goals market. Having seen BATE’s defence taking a bit of a battering this season with their keeper to thank for some good results and Valencia looking a bit leaky at the back against Athletic Bilbao at the weekend the value for me lies in over 2.5 goals at 2.11 with 188bet.
If you see goals too, back it here.
