First thing to note is that due to the current troubles in Eastern Ukraine this game will be played in Kiev. Dnipro finished runners up to Shaktar Donetsk last season in the league, and therefore break the usual mould of Donetsk and Dinamo Kiev representing Ukraine in the Champions league. Regulars in the Europa league previously, Dnipro have usually fared well in that competition, reaching the knockout rounds in the last two seasons and are well capable of making their presence felt on this loftier stage. Copenhagen finished runners up in the Danish league, and they have reached the group stages of Champions league three times in the last eight years, on one occasion progressing onto the knockout rounds, the only Danish club to achieve this feat. With several decent looking signings over the summer Copenhagen could well be in for a good season.  Both sides have just began their league seasons and just nine places separate them in UEFA coefficients with Dnipro 56 and Copenhagen 47 which indicates a close encounter over the two legs.
