Juventus v Chelsea predictions: Stats and Facts
There are 6 more points to play for in the group stages of this Champions League edition. Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk and Juventus are battling for the top two spots. Chelsea is currently top dog (due to goal difference) with 7 points. Shakhtar has 7 as well. Juventus has 6 points. Shakhtar travels to Denmark to square off with FC Nordsjaelland, a team that pretty much is out of contention even for the 3rd position qualifying for entry into the next round of the Europa League.
Juventus is DWLWWD (3-2-1) in their last 6 competitive home games. The goal average in those 6 ties was 2.5. 3 out of 6 went over 2.5 goals! Juventus managed 3 clean sheets in this interval and scored in 5 out of 6. Juventus won with a goal superiority of two plus 2 out of 6. 1 out of 6 times Juventus let in more than 1 goal.
Chelsea is LDLWWW (3-1-2) in their last 6 competitive away games. The goal average in those 6 matches was 3.5. 5 out of 6 went over 2.5! Chelsea managed 1 clean sheet in this interval and won with a goal superiority of two or more 2 out of 6. Chelsea did however score in every of those 6 ties. Chelsea did allow the opposition to score 2 or more against them 2 out of 6.
These two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea was 2-0 up and looked comfy, but they allowed Juventus to get back into the game. They met in the same fixture back in 2009. I don’t think it’s very relevant for the outcome of this match, but for those wanting to know: It ended 2-2 as well.

Juventus v Chelsea predictions: 1x2 Preview
None of the sides have any suspensions, and both sides are expected to field a very strong side. John Terry is back in the treatment room for Chelsea, so he’s out. Both teams know Shakhtar Donetsk has an, on paper easy game and could go to 10 points before the last match of the group. Juventus knows going to Donetsk on December 5th is going to be an immense task. Chelsea has a “walk on the bridge” when Nordsjaelland comes visiting. This in my opinion adds extra pressure on Juventus.
I definitely think Chelsea is the better team of the two overall. This Chelsea side with Hazard, Oscar, Mata and Torres has so much firepower up front. It must be said though that Chelsea is leaking at the back. They have missed John Terry, and losing him again in his return is far from optimal.
Juventus is of course a good team, getting back to their former best, but in my opinion Juventus still needs another season or two to build before they can get up to the level of the top clubs in England. For a cup game of this sort however they have more than skill enough to upset Chelsea. I am particularly impressed with their work ethics at home. More often than not Juventus has full control defensively, their stats clearly shows this. When that’s combined with a good goal conversion rate things look good for Juventus.
This looks like a match that will be quite even in terms of possession. I would not be surprised if Chelsea will have the ball slightly more. I think both sides will use safety first as the main mantra on the night. If any of the two sides are to go more fiercely at it; I think Chelsea is the more likely off the two. I doubt it however as they’ll be quite happy with a draw really. I think they’ll fire less than 20 shots on goal between them, and as usual it will be down to conversion on the night. Both sides have plenty of talent to draw upon, but overall the quality of Chelsea is slightly higher. Both sides have enough quality to get something out of this game, and both really have allergy against losing. There are plenty of scenarios pointing to goals in this game, even if the sides will play with the safety belt on. They both give it their best for 90 minutes, and would want to get something out of the game even if they should go 2-0 down for instance. This, plus the fact that Chelsea will probably not be too disappointed with a draw either pushes me towards the draw as a value play. Betsson Sportsbook offers a massive 3.70 as well as the mentioned risk free bet. For me that’s a really good bet.

Juventus v Chelsea predictions: Asian Handicap Preview
Chelsea is most probably the better side of the two. They do leak some at the back, but they also can’t stop scoring. Add to that English Premier League superiority over the Serie A, and the plot thickens. Also, looking more closely at Juventus’ stats I think it is fair to say they are far less dominant versus good opposition in the Serie A. They drew against Lazio this weekend, and lost against Inter. Add to that a home draw after full time 2-2 versus Napoli in the Super Cup (Juve won in extra time). It must also be said Juventus beat Napoli convincingly 2-0 in a league game. In the Champions League Juventus also played a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar (in a game the Ukrainians very well could have won).
When 3.43 are offered for Chelsea, Draw No Bet I get excited. Juventus really need the points, but will not dare to go all-in attack wise. That could very well be suicide against the mentioned attacking line up Chelsea can bring to the party. For me; the most likely scenario is that the teams will be rather static compared to their best for the first twenty minutes at least. If Juventus fails to score before the hour mark I am fairly sure they’ll start pushing more and more, leaving great room for Chelsea to exploit. Another scenario is that Chelsea scores first, and either defend to a narrow win or a draw, or they can counter in more goals for a win. As you can see there are plenty of good scenarios for this bet. Pinnacle is the provider. I say; thank you very much!

Juventus v Chelsea predictions: Total Goals preview
Between them; Juventus and Chelsea have played 8 matches over 2.5 goals in their last combined 12 matches (66.67%). This price the Over 2.5 at 1.50! Of course there is more to it than that mechanical way of pricing the event. This preview points at a likely scenario of the teams going toe to toe at a more static and strategically level. This would add weight to the under. I do however like the 1.80 offered for the Over 2.5 goals by Betsson. Especially when I can get a Risk Free Bet of €25 as well (Risk Free Bet = Getting up to €25 back if I lose my bet).
