MARSEILLE V ARSENAL PREDICTIONS AND BETTING TIPS

Marseille made a great start to Ligue 1 with three straight victories. Dispatched were Guincamp, Evian and Valenciennes.  However all three sides are not fancied to challenge the top half of the table. They met Monaco at home and fought well but were outclassed by the principality. Next game saw another struggle as bottom side Toulouse could not be overcome. Marseille face a fight for third position in Ligue 1 as Monaco and PSG are on a totally different level. Almost a full squad for the French with centre-back Souleymane Diawara the only absentee.

Arsenal opened the season in shakey style and lost 3-1 to Aston Villa. Since then though its been wins all the way with 5 straight victories. Its not been all plain sailing though as Arsenal’s usual defensive frailties have shown up a few times with sloppy defending and also a bit of ill discipline with sendings off. Attacking is where Arsenal are best and Olivier Giroud is showing great form as is Aaron Ramsey. Arsenal have played twice in Champions League already, a dominant 5-0 aggregate win over Fenerbahce. Arsenal have been hit by a massive amount of problems.  Out in midfield are Arteta, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Diaby and Cazorla. New signing Mesut Ozil waltzed around like he had played for Arsenal all his life and will be quality for the side. Up front Podolski and Sanogo are out while Giroud has a knock but will have to play. At the back Mertesacker has a virus and may sit out also.

Arsenal even though they are shorn of a few players are head and shoulders above their French rivals. Arsene Wenger will know the ins and outs of Marseille and will set up his side to prevail here. A packed Velodrome is a sight in itself but the French League outside the big two is getting weaker and weaker. Lyon were destroyed by Real Sociedad in the playoff round and show how far the sides have fallen. I take Arsenal to win at a juicy 2.60 with Williamhill.
