TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Corinthians are a previous World Club Cup winner having taken the trophy in 2000. They come off a difficult season in Brazil Serie A were they found it difficult to concentrate on league matters due to participation in the Copa Libertadores. A tournament they won for the first time in 2012. Corinthians play with a distinct style, the side are known for their ability to close down opposing teams whenever they lose possession and for launching fast, direct attacks when they regain it. Three players have left the side,centre-half Leandro Castan, midfielder Alex and front man Liedson. Signed to replace them are Anderson Polga, Argentinian attacking midfielder Juan Martinez; and Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero. Key men for Corinthians are central midfielder Paulinho and attacking midfielder Danilo. In the semi final win over Al Ahly we saw how destructive the side were. Corinthians scored and then trust tried to kill the game. Play got bogged down and the Brazilians were happy to cede possesion but denied any space. Al Ahly had a few attacks at Corinthians and the game was maybe 55-45 in the negative Corinthians favour.
Chelsea won their maiden continental title last year with a penalty shoot out win over Bayern Munich. After strengthening over the summer they made a decent start to life in the Premier League but bowed out of this years Champs League with a disappointing 3rd place group finish, trailing Juventus and Shaktar Donetsk. The slip up cost Roberto DiMatteo his job and owner Abramovich moved to tie up Rafa Benitez in a move which angered the Stamford Bridge faithfull. Early signs have looked positive though as Chelsea have evolved play slightly and look a more organised and balanced side. Benitez has managed to fire Fernando Torres up and his compatriot has responded with 5 goals in 3 games and some improved performances. Against Monterrey is the Semi Finals Chelsea were very good. David Luiz was pushed into a midfield role and excelled. Chelsea are more supportive to Torres now and Benitez understands his game more than anyone else. Chelsea beat Monterrey 3-1 and were fully deserved of the victory.

1.80 Chelsea (PaddyPower)is the selection in this game. Two clashing styles here and we hope the footballing side come out on top. Chelsea will play there usual breaking style. They have attacking talent all over the pitch, chief playmakers in Hazard and Mata and the invigorated Fernando Torres. For me the key man is David Luiz, he looked class in a more advanced position. Corinthians will set out to destroy Chelsea, they have the sheer mindedness to do it too. This game is massive for the Brazilians and they will be fired up to the maximium here. They have quality players but the coach has organisation and determination above creativity. I expect a very low scoring win for Chelsea and 1-0 looks ideal.

Chelsea -0.25 is the selection here 1.56 (Pinnacle) I have a very slight worry for the draw here. Corinthians have the ability to shut out Chelsea for 90 minutes. I think Chelsea have the slight edge but the draw chance is viable. The Brazilians will be out on their feet at 90 minutes after harrying every ball. They will not over commit and they will play to nick a goal or even take it to penalties. Chelsea but not by any major handicap for me. If the game finished level we lose half our stake and get the other half refunded.

CORINTHIANS - CHELSEA :TOTAL GOALS PREDICTION

Under 2.50 1.91 (Willhill) is the bet here. This looks nailed on for me, Chelsea will have a difficult task for sure against the South Amerian champions. Corinthians specialise in the "dark arts" and now how to kill games off. Chelsea are used to "park the bus" teams but Corinthians do have down to a tee. I expect few goals here given the magnitude of the game and was even thinking of going under 1.5 such is the strength of feeling here.
