We move to the knockout stages and we have two sides who most people would be surprised to see in the last 8. Bolivia finished 2nd in group A after 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. They were hammered by the hosts 5-0 but drew with Mexico (0-0) and beat Ecuador 3-2. The win was a real humdinger as they raced to a nervy 3-0 lead but were pegged back – eventually clinging on for a victory. Peru finished with an identical record. They beat Venezuela, and drew with Colombia but were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Brazil. In this game it’s a going to be a real tight affair. I just don’t see either side sticking their neck out at all. Peru are the better side for sure but the game will be settled by penalties after 90 minutes. For me the only way we get a result is the pens. Neither side will overcommit and if it gets to the 2nd half a draw I don’t expect that to change.
The draw is short at most bookmakers but Pinnacle go 3.31. A massive price for me with a semifinal place up for grabs between two of the lesser lights of South America.
