Knockout stages in the Copa Libertadores and two teams who don’t normally make the latter stages. UNAM Pumas of Mexico City have won the Mexican title 7 times over their history, including 2 Clausuras in last 6 years.  They have only had 2 participants in the Copa Libertadores. This year they won 5 games and lost 1 but the group was pretty straight forward with todays opposition Tachira (Venezuela)  Olimpia (Paraguay) and Emelec (Ecuador). At home in Mexico City they have the advantage of the high altitude (stadium is over 2000m above sea level) they managed to win all three games and scored 4 goals in each of those matches (conceding 4) – Tachira of San Cristobal arrive in Mexico with a chance having won the 1^st leg 1-0. They had an extra man for 20 mins as Marcelo Alletorre was sent off for the Mexicans (he will miss the home leg) In the qualifying Tachira played 6 games with 3 wins and 3 defeats.  They won all three home games but lost all three away games. On the road they scored 1 and conceded 10 so they surely stand no chance in Mexico City.
