Belgium take on Republic of Ireland in this Group E clash in Bordeaux. Belgium were very disappointing indeed in a 2-0 loss to Italy 1st match. In analysis though we have to give top marks to Italy who executed a perfect gameplan. Too many Belgians where anonymous though and will need to step up here. Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne are both doubts here and will be missed if absent. Ireland played well in the 1-1 draw with Sweden and arguably deserved the win over the 90 minutes. Key man for them Jonathan Walters will miss this game and his loss will be felt. These sides have met 7 times with 2 Sweden wins and 5 draws.
Belgium need a win here simple as that, while Ireland will need a positive result to take into the clinch game with Italy. Belgium man for man are better throughout than Ireland, indeed for me their isn’t a single Ireland player who I would have over their counterpart in Belgium.
