France return to Paris for a quarterfinal date with Iceland.  France are unbeaten so far with three wins and 1 draw. They have beaten Albania and Romania in the group stages before drawing with Switzerland. They went behind to Ireland early on in the last 16 game but quickly got a brace of goals and in truth never looked in trouble.  Two big suspensions for them though with defender Adil Rami and midfielder N’Golo Kante both out. Iceland are the big shock of the competition but they too remain unbeaten. They have defeated Austria in the groups and England 2-1 in the last 16 game. They have also drawn with Portugal and Hungary in what has been an excellent finals for them. They have no injury or suspension worries here.

France would have had a gameplan set up around playing England but they too will have to revise their intentions. They lose two key men in Kante and Rami but they have some good back up players in Cabaye and Barcelona new boy Umtiti. Iceland have conceded in every game so far with all four ending up “both score yes” – France have had two from four finish in this fashion also. I feel that things will be different now though with the knock out stages. I still think it will be tight 1^st half but the hosts will prevail 2^nd half.
