Belenenses v Altach is an interesting game to wrap up the Thursday night. They are one of the oldest clubs in Portugal but haven’t had much success. They have one league title but that way back in 1945. Indeed they were in the 2d division up until 2 seasons ago! A 6th place league finish last year though brought them into Europa League. They have played 27 games in Europe with 7 wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats. They have not played much in recent years though the win and draw over IFK Goteborg the only games since 2007! Belenenses have played 2 games so far in Portugal Premiera and have drawn both. Altach of Austria are a side not used to being in the top league of the country. Although formed in 1929 they bounced between leagues 3 and 2 all the way up to 2006. They have since bounced between the Bundesliga 1 and 2 since then. Last year was their best ever finish when they ended up 3rd in league. They played their 1st ever Europe season this year and beat a disinterested Victoria Setubal in both legs the last round. In the 1st leg it was pretty much 50/50 but Belenenses were the more clinical.
Very few goals here and it will be the odd goal to settle it. Belenenses looked the better side, only just in Austria. At home I think they have the ability to take the tie and make their 1st ever Euro group stages.
