CHELSEA V RUBIN KAZAN PREDICTIONS

The Europa League Quarter Finals give us a number of interesting ties which will make for some exciting Thursday nights going forward.

Chelsea look for their second European trophy in two years, although this certainly won’t live up to their Champions League win last year.  Rafa Benitez seems focused on picking up some silverware this season and has played strong sides in this competition so far.  Their league form has been a worry and they currently sit in 4^th place in the Premier League, just two points ahead of Arsenal.  A loss at the weekend against Southampton was a slip up they couldn’t really afford to make and will have a tough end to the season.

Rubin Kazan are picking up form at the right time and are undefeated in their last 5 matches.  They are up to 4^th in the Russian Premier League and came through a tough tie against Levante in the last round of this competition.  Chelsea will be a much tougher match than they are used to but they could be playing them at the right time.

With Chelsea already playing their third match in 5 days they will have to rotate the squad if they want to avoid tiredness.  They played a full strength side in their win over Manchester United on Monday so I’d expect players like Lampard, Terry, Moses and Torres to come into the team.
