German Eintracht Frankfurt are hosting French side Bordeaux in this first round match of Europa League group F. Eintracht Frankfurt have not started the Bundesliga season that well, they have two wins and three losses after the first five matches. In these matches they have had very varied results, for instance they lost 6-1 away to Hertha Berlin in the season opener, but won 3-0 away to Werder Bremen in the last match. Two of the losses came against Bayern Munich and Borossia Dortmund. In the Europa League they beat Qarabag from Azerbaijan 4-1 on aggregate in the qualification play-off round.
Bordeaux are also five matches into their domestic Ligue 1 season, and they have one win, one draw, and three losses. The only win came at home to Bastia, the three losses were against Monaco, Saint Etienne and PSG. This is the Bordeaux’ first match of the Europa League as they qualified directly to the group stage due to their French Cup win (Bordeaux finished 7th in the league last season).
Eintracht Frankfurt have little experience with European competition during the last few years, the only time in last 12-13 years that they have participated was back in 2006/07 UEFA Cup where they reached the group stage. Bordeaux have more experience in the last years, last time they participated was last season when they reached Europa League round of 16 and was then knocked out by finalists Benfica.
