Newcastle will look to cement their return to the top of the English game with a Europa League group stage appearance this season. We will preview the action from the match and provide betting predictions.
The first leg was expected to be an even affair and that is how it turned out. Newcastle lost an early goal to the Athens team but fought back well and equalised right on half time. Left back Ryan Taylor again showing how deadly he is from a dead ball situation by curling in an excellent free-kick.
Atromitos really needed to take a lead to St James’ Park if they were to have any chance in the tie but they couldn’t find the breakthrough in the second half and will need to score in the second leg to have any chance of going through.
