The 1st leg tie at Pittodrie was a 0-0 scoreline and this usually has the effect of stifling the 2nd leg too. Aberdeen have already played a qualifier before this one and trounced Daugava of Latvia 8-0 on aggregate. In the 1st leg we found a very tight game between two evenly matched sides. Aberdeen arguably had the better chances but were thwarted by new signing Sergio Padt. The keeper made several excellent saves throughout the game.
I believe this game will be equally as cagey and take the draw here in what could be a cracking tie. Groningen are quite short here but Aberdeen proved they will not lie down.
Like the 1st leg this game will be very tight indeed. The only way it will open up is if Aberdeen score early and then away goals comes into play and Groningen will need to score at least 2. I don’t believe they can score early or indeed at all here. The 0-0 is a real player again and I like the under 2.5 goals here. The 1st leg had few chances and both midfields stifled each other. More of the same here and money for us.
