KIEV V BORDEAUX PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Dinamo Kiev finished 3^rd of its Champion’s League group, behind PSG and Porto. They won the initial game, 2-0 at home against Zagreb, and then drew twice and lost three games. Their national championship is on Winter break since the end of November. They are currently 3^rd of the league, with an overall record of 12-1-5. When playing home they have an impressive 8-0-1 record (21 goals scored and 6 conceded).

Bordeaux is in 7^th position in Ligue 1 with a 9-11-4 record. They travel pretty well in Ligue 1 as they have a 6-5-3 away record. They finished 1^st of their Europa League group, 4 points ahead of Newcastle (4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in the group).

The home side reached the semi-finals of this Cup in 2009 so they have quite some experience of this competition. The fact that they stop playing for 3 months seems to be an advantage as Shaktar Donetsk is also used to performing well in European cups. Bordeaux’s coach mentioned that he was annoyed by the fact that he cannot get any video of a recent game.  Kiev has played 9 friendly games to stay in shape and get ready for this round.

I expect a very tight game. Kiev has much more experience than Bordeaux, but the French are solid in defence and usually know how to close a game if they just focus on not conceding goals. It should be just above 0°C in Kiev while it’s currently around 13°C in Bordeaux so it’s a small advantage to the home side even though it shouldn’t have a big impact. Bordeaux’s objective will be to bring back a draw and try and win at home, so I would go for a draw here. Pick the draw at 3.45 with Betsson.
