Statistics and Facts

Leverkusen has qualified for the knock out stages of the Europa League in second place behind Metalist. They can’t win the group. Rosenborg has nothing but seeding points to play for, and they haven’t had a competitive game since the 22.11 as the Norwegian domestic league ended mid-November. The reverse fixture ended 1-0 to Leverkusen in a match that was fairly tight. Leverkusen was the better side on the night though.

Leverkusen is 4-0-2 overall form wise, and 5-1-0 at home. Leverkusen is obviously a team in form. Rosenborg is 2-0-4 overall and 2-0-4 away. The top spot in the Tippeliga slipped away after coming from behind to claim it for a few moments. When the dust settled Rosenborg was 3rd, behind both Molde and Stromsgodset.

Team News

No suspensions for either side. Influential midfielder Bender is out for Leverkusen. Sidney sam, Daniel Schwaab, Karim Bellarabi and Michal Kadlec are supposedly out still as well. Rosenborg will be without Daniel Fredheim Holm, Stefan Strandberg, Borek Dockal and reserve keeper Daniel Örlund. Other than that the Norwegians are fielding a solid side by the looks of it.

Analysis

Leverkusen will probably rotate the squad quite a bit as the Bundesliga is very hectic before the Christmas break and their injury list is a concern. Against a very compact Rosenborg side that seldom gives much away I am not convinced this will be an easy win for the home side. Rosenborg has plenty of tradition in Europe, and would like to end the season on a high. Obsviously the Leverkusen bench most likely match the Rosenborg first team oh so easy, but expect this to be closer than many think.

 

Leverkusen v Rosenborg predictions for 1x2

As Leverkusen rotates and Rosenborg fields a stronger than expected side I can’t find much value in the home win. However, I am not a big fan of the Rosenborg win either. The Norwegians will remain compact. Should they go 1-0 up Leverkusen should have enough quality to get an equalizer, either from the starting eleven or from the bench.  My call is the draw. 4.80 from BetVictor (Victor Chandler) are just too high given this setting. Leverkusen v Rosenborg predictions for Asian Handicap

I like Rosenborg +1. Should Leverkusen win this by one goal, we still get our money back. If the game ends a draw or Rosenborg wins, we win! Looking at the teams combined Europa League performances the Over is a slight favorite. The same holds true when looking at the last few games of either side. In this setting however with a lot of Leverkusen fringes against a compact Rosenborg side I can’t say I think the Over is a clear Favorite any more. Obviously, 2.45 with Betsson must be value then!
