I think Metalist to control this tie possession wise. Depending on the Rosenborg line up I would say from 55-60% is to be expected.

Metalist is a technically gifted team. The starting 11 is basically built with South American talent. Cleiton Xavier, is perhaps their brightest light with 2 goals in the Europa League and 6 domestically, but he has plenty of flair around him. The Ukrainian side is mobile, quick and they can score goals from all over the pitch. They do not only rely on their through and through strikers for goals.

Rosenborg as well is a side that attacks well as a unit, and can pull goals out of most positions on the pitch, but in Europe so far it has ended up with “almost good enough” a bit too often. Especially at home one expects more from this side. Morale in the dressing room might be a little off. Rosenborg worked their way to the top of the Norwegian table just to lose the two most recent ties against their top of the table rivals Molde and Strømsgodset.

has a great squad and is a better than average team when playing at home. Rosenborg is on a low, miss 2 important players and isn’t among the strongest away sides. In Rosenborg’s last 6 games away from home they let the opposition score 2 or more 3 times. They only lost 1 with a goal superiority of 2 or more. Actually in their 20 last away games (excluding friendlies) they have only lost 1 game with 2+ goals. Metalist is a top notch side (much better than most give them credit for) so they can definitely give Rosenborg a spanking (just refer to the stats section above), but that scenario is not the most likely. If you have read this preview carefully I think you will land on the same conclusion as me. This looks like an over 2.5 goals game.  Both the stats and the most likely scenarios on the pitch indicate that.
