The 1st leg of Basel v Sevilla in Switzerland was a huge surpise to me as the game ended 0-0. The game was end to end even so and Basel had keeper Tomas Vaclik to thank for the clean sheet. Basel are without key defender Walter Samuel after a booking ruled him out here. They also miss Akanji, Boetius, Degen and Sporar. They do have striker Breel Embolo available after he missed the home tie suspended. Amazingly at the weekend both sides recorded home 4-2 wins with Sevilla beating Villarreal and Basel beating St Gallen. Sevilla are without Konoplyanka, N’Zonzi and Vitolo.
Sevilla are usually below par at home and incredibly are still to win a single away game in La Liga in 14 attempts. 0-0 away isn’t usually a great result in Europa as it leaves you vulnerable to the score draw and away goals exit.
