Our last game of the day for a selection sees Skonto Riga of Latvia host Debrecen of Hungary. The Hungarians again seem overpriced for me and I take Skonto again who brought home the cash last time out. Skonto are 15 times league winners but have not taken the title since 2010. They have huge experience in Europe with 76 matches. They have 28 wins, 14 draws and 34 losses. In round 1 they beat St Patrick’s of Ireland home and away. Last time out they beat Tiraspol of Moldova but lost against Czech side Liberec. In the league this year they are currently 2^nd with 21 points from 11 games this season with a game in hand over the leaders. Debrecen have yet to start their league. The Hungarians are 7 times league winners, taking 4 leagues since 2008. In Europe they have good pedigree but nothing much in recent years. They just passed Sutjeska of Mont in the last round, in recent years they have gone out to the likes of Borisov (twice) Stromsgodset and Young Boys.

Debrecen are favourites but I think they are put in too short here. I think they may just have the edge to pass the tie but in Latvia I wouldn’t be so short. The Latvians have the fitness edge having played just under a dozen league games. Both sides passed through round 1 but for me the Latvians again were more impressive. With a half goal start I prefer the home side. We get paid on Skonto or the draw here.
