It’s an all Gaelic clash as Scotland host Ireland at Hampden Park. Scotland have started to believe in themselves, for me its all down to Gordan Strachan. Hes a superb man manager and a great guy to have at the helm. Scotland are in 4^th with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. This may not look great but the loss was away to Germany and they only just lost in that one. The draw was away to 2^nd favourites Poland. So 2 difficult games but 2 positive performances.  Scotland are without injured Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton, while Phil Bardsley is also unavailable. Scotland are much more organized now, solid defensively and as already stated confident.  Scotland go into this one in great form, with just the Germany defeat the only loss in 9 games over the last year. Ireland go into this one positioned in 2^nd with 2 wins and 1 draw. They put 7 past a hapless Gibraltar and won 2-1 in Georgia. A 1-1 away draw in Germany is a superb result but in truth the late header from a dead ball by O’Shea was all against the run of play. Marc Wilson is out for sure while key man James McCarthy is a major doubt. His loss will be keenly felt as they don’t have quality to replace him. Results of the year are not as good for Ireland. Outside of qualifying they have played 6 games and managed just 1 win (against a ropey Oman side) Losses to Portugal, Serbia and Turkey with draws over Costa Rica and Italy.

Going to be a close game for sure, but a real buzz around the Scottish camp at the moment. I take the home side with a -0.25 handicap – this means we get paid full odds on a Scotland win. A draw here sees half stakes returned.
