CHILE U20 - ENGLAND U20: PREDICTIONS

The Fifa U20 World Cup continues with the 2^nd round of matches in  Group E. Chile opened up with a win against Egypt in a game they struggled for long periods in,while England raced into a 2 goal lead against Iraq but were lucky to escape with a point after 2 late Iraqi goals.

Chile u20 laboured for long periods of their opening game against a lively and well supported Egypt side. Indeed although much was expected of the South Americans they were decidedly under par. For all that though they did grab an all important win and three points that sets them up nicely in this group. Chile opened up well and looked in control of the game but Egypt broke time and time again and only some top keeping and some wayward Egyptian finishing kept them in the game. Their two goals were slightly fortunate too and they clung on at the end after the silly red card for Cristian Cuevas after dangerous play. Chile should improve after this game as they can really not play worse. That they still won must mean something and if they want to progress they will have to shift up a few gears.

England u20 went into the game fancied to beat Iraq and indeed looked a class above their Asian opponents for around 60 minutes. Ross Barkley and Conor Coady looked solid in the middle and England looked in control in defence. Forward John Lundstram played the perfect hold up striker game and brought his fellow attackers into the game continually. Iraq seemed to struggle against the power play of the English and 2-0 was a just scoreline. Then in the last 30 minutes the wheels seemed to fall off England and they started panicking in possession and giving the ball away needlessly. England conceded a soft penalty and with seconds left on the clock conceded again in the 93^rd minute.

CHILE U20 - ENGLAND U20: BETTING TIPS

Chile have been backed off the boards since the odds went up and are now trading around 2.10 . It would seem strange then for me to select England +0.5 (1.75 Pinnacle) but having seen both sides in action I think England are well capable of getting a result. Chile were clear 2^nd best against Egypt and laboured for 90 minutes. England looked bright and breezy and unlike the usual England youth sides they look full of attacking intent. Peter Taylor is a better manager than he gets credit for and I trust he will get a 90 minute performance out of his team here.
