COSTA RICA v PARAGUAY: 1x2 BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS

Costa Rica made the WC finals with a strong home performance. In a very tough group they finished above Mexico, Panama and Honduras. The qualification was assured thanks to a 5 wins from 5 record at home. Ten goals scored and just 2 conceded meant they were through even without winning an away game. They are placed in a really tough group in Brazil with Italy, England and Uruguay to play – hence the tie here with Paraguay. Costa Rica are not in a great vein of form at the moment with a run of just 1 win in 6 games. A draw with Jamaica with the win over Mexico is all they have to show for a recent run which includes losses to Australia, Honduras, Chile and South Korea in games which they never managed to score a single goal in. Out will be Brian Oviedo here with the Everton man out for a while with a leg break. They come up against a hopelessly out of form Paraguay team so it may not be a like for like replacement for the dangerous Uruguay. Their near neighbours had an awful qualifying campaign and never managed to get going at all. Recent form has been poor with 1 win, 2 draws and 5 defeats in the last 8 games. Their defensive solidity has all but evaporated as they conceded 17 goals in that time.

Fifa rank Costa Rica quite a bit above their Southern American rivals at the moment and I am in agreement. Despite the poor recent run for Costa Rica they are back to San Jose in their own country and they are very good indeed at home. Recent games have either been away or in neutral territory and that’s resulted in poor form. With a recent home record of 10 wins and 1 draw from 11 they are a different animal infront of their own fans. Great odds on the home side here too, odds are around 2.25 on Costa Rica and for me they should be no bigger than 2.00 – expect a big drop here and advice is to bet early!
