Italy take on Scotland in the curious venue of Malta in this warm up game. With a current temperature in the high 20c’s and high humidity I have little faith in Scotland to be able to adapt and play their high tempo game with much success. Italy made Euro 2016 with ease, winning their group without a loss. Since qualification was assured they have yet to win a game with 2 draws and 2 defeats in friendlies. They are without Marchisio and Verratti here and will unlikely start with Montolivo and Motta either as both are not fully fit. Scotland never qualified for the Euros after being in an almost impossible group including Poland, Germany and Republic Ireland. They arrive here on the back of a few good results with wins over Czech Republic and Denmark in friendlies. They are missing a lot of players here with Barry Bannan, Robert Snodgrass, Shaun Maloney along with keepers McGregor and Bain all out.
Recent head to heads for these two see three Italy wins and 1 draw. I don’t think the conditions will suit Scotland at all and see a comfortable win for Italy. A close game though and one goal may be enough for Italy. The odds seem very big on Italy and 4-5 or 1.80 is a great price for me.
