CHILE - VENEZUELA: PREDICTIONS

Chile have recovered after their poor run of form in late 2012. They opened the qualifiers well with a good run of results but then seemed to fall apart somewhat. Over the last year or so they have regained their form recently with an unbeaten run of five games (4 wins and 1 draw) with 15 goals scored and just 4 conceded. Chile sit in 4^th position with 7 wins and 6 defeats. In Santiago they are 4 wins for 2 losses and are a strong when roared on by nearly 70,000 fans. Key for Chile are Alexis Sanchez and Eduardo Vargas who have managed 7 goals between them this year.

Venezuela had a great start to the qualifying period but have had mixed results since the early days.  In the last 7 games Venezuela are 2 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats.  Capable of excellent results such as the 1-0 home win over the rapidly improving Colombia, but then drawing with Bolivia and losing to Nigeria by three goals.  Key playmaker Juan Arango is suspended and will be a big loss. Solomon Rondon will have to shoulder the attacking burden, the Rubin Kazan striker has had an excellent start to the season with 4 goals from 7 in Russia. Big news from Santiago is a stomace virus has laid almost the entire squad out of training. 20 of the 24 players have been ill since they arrived and this will have a massive effect on the team on Saturday.

CHILE - VENEZUELA: BETTING TIPS      

Cannot see anything other than a Chile win here, in Santiago with a place in World Cup almost assured this should be a straightforward home victory. Arango is a huge player for Venezuela and his loss confirms my bet on the home side. With news of the illness in the Venezuela camp also the price is taking a dive.I take Chile to win at 1.40 with William Hill.
