A basement battle in Group C with the pointless Faroe Islands (008) hosting Kazakhstan(116). Despite the unenviable record the Faroes can approach this match with genuine hopes of getting a result. Last time out Germany ran out 3-0 winners, but the score was only 1-0 when defender Gregersen was red carded giving away a penalty. Before that they lost 2-1 in Kazakhstan, but did lead until after the break when another penalty conceded changed the game in Kazakhstans favour. On two previous friendly meetings of the teams here the Faroes ran out winners on both occasions, though it was over ten years ago. The previously mentioned Gregersen will miss out suspended for the Faroe Islands here.

Kazakhstan away form has been woeful in the group with just one goal scored and ten conceded in their three matches so far. Last match brought a 1-0 home defeat to Sweden, when after going behind to a first minute strike they at least performed with credit in a tough game.
