SCOTLAND – BELGIUM PREDICTIONS AND BETTING TIPS

Scotland have regained a little confidence after two strong performances against Croatia and England. A 1-0 away in Zagreb was followed up by a battling 3-2 loss to England at Wembley in a game they more that matched the hosts. Scotland’s overall form since New Year 2012 is not too bad with 4 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats. The lack of quality available to Gordon Strachan is evident in the striking department. Only Naismith plays in Premier league and he hardly gets game time as Evertons 3^rd or 4^th choice. The rest are made up of Championship players and even a League One striker. I think Strachan will try and build from the back and get the side back on an even keel. This qualifying has gone now but they do need to try and finish as high as possible to avoid falling into the lower pots for future draws. In this qualifying section Scotland have been awful and sit 2^nd bottom with 1 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats.

Belgium are the real buzz team of the qualifying section and are starting to look a real powerhouse of the Europe section. A real strong eleven and quality backup have all appeared on the scene together to really push Belgium into the fore as one of the most promising sides the Benelux side has had since the mid 80’s. A huge blow for the side though as captain and mainstay Vincent Kompany is injured. The side draws players from the best teams in Europe and Belgium can field almost 2 top quality sides such is the wide variety of talent available. They sit atop the Qualifying table with 6 wins and 1 draw and have only lost twice in the last 17 matches (both friendly games) Belgium need two more wins to qualify and they will be at maximum motivation.

I have to take Belgium in this game even though Hampden Park will be a big challenge. Scotland don’t get anywhere near the level of quality of the Belgians. There will be a hot atmosphere in Glasgow but the experience Belgian players will be able to cope with it. Belgium need two wins and the 1^st should come here against Scotland. With qualification nearly secured the focus and drive will there. William Hill are best price Belgium at 1.80.

Belgium will be all out for victory but will be very conservative and will be safety 1^st. Scotland are organised and will compete so although Belgium should win this will be no walkover. The only avenue for goals is deadballs for Scotland and I don’t honestly see them scoring. A low scoring encounter for sure and William Hills Under 2.5 goals is the bet at 1.65.
