SERBIA V CROATIA : PREDICTIONS AND BETTING TIPS

These two are neighbours, but there is nothing friendly in the rivalry and fireworks can be expected when they cross swords in Belgrade this Friday. Serbia have endured a wretched campaign with just seven points in seven matches and have no chance of reaching the finals in Brazil. There only wins have come against Scotland and Wales, but they will need no added motivation for the visit of the Croats, and potentially damaging their prospects of winning the group. It would also bring revenge for a humbling 2-0 defeat in Zagreb in the reverse fixture when they were totally outplayed. With Ivanovic, Subotic and Kolarov in defence you would expect them to be solid at the back. Up front however they are reliant on youngsters Duricic 21 and Markovic 19 of Benfica, and Mitrovic 18 of Anderlecht. They are very promising and possibly stars of the future but the question is are they ready yet for such a massive test as this?

But for a shock home defeat to Scotland last time Croatia could have gone into this game unbeaten and joint top of the group. They are still very much in contention though, as Belgium are still to visit Zagreb. Since the Scottish defeat they have lost to Portugal at home and were unimpressive 3-2 winners at Liechtenstein. In Luka Modric and Mario Mandzukic they have two of the finest players capable of lighting up any world cup tournament.
