URUGUAY V ARGENTINA: PREDICTIONS

Uruguay have a really talented squad and have really improved over the past few years. However in this qualifying section they have just fallen short. Ecuador and Chile can ensure both qualify by playing out a draw in Santiago. Uruguay can only qualify with a high scoring win of their own coupled with a Chile win.  With a goal difference of -4 to make up its looking pretty grim for Uruguay who will face a playoff against Jordan of Asia In qualifying though they have been poor mainly on the road. Unbeaten in Montevideo with 4 wins and 3 draws they have only managed two wins away in 8 attempts. Uruguay sit in the playoff position and cannot be caught by Venezuela.

Argentina have topped the group and cannot be caught. With 9 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat they have been the best side in the section. Argentina are in superb form with no losses in 9 matches. With 6 wins and 3 draws – with a good few games without Messi too. The Barcelona man sits out here and will be a chance for a few fringe men to get a game. The likes of Ever Banega, Federico Fernandez and Rodrigo Palacios will feature. Fabio Coloccini & Rodrigo Brana are out the squad.

URUGUAY V ARGENTINA: BETTING TIPS        

This game looks very likely to be a home win for me as Uruguay will at least do their bit. With an experimental Argentina side likely too its all set for the home side to win. With Chile v Ecuador likely to be a draw the Uruguayans must go after the Argentinians. I fancy a decent home win here as Suarez and Cavani set about the visitors. A home win would be a good bet in a competitive game but as its all on Uruguay I expect it more so now.

Back Uruguay at 2.40 with William Hill which is a great price.

I am taking the home side to at least do their part which means a decent margin victory. The bookies have this as a tight game but this is an ultra motivated Uruguay side against a second string Argentina in a white hot atmosphere in Montevideo.
