BOURNEMOUTH – WEST HAM: PREDICTIONS

One of the traditional English preseason friendlies sees West Ham boost the coffers of close allies Bournemouth.

Bournemouth were promoted back into the Championship after a fine season in England 1. Coached by old boy Eddie Howe, The Cherries were one of the best sides in the division last year and played some of the best football too. Finishing 2^nd was reward and a return to The Championship. Bournemouth are an outside bet for the league for sure but they will give a good account of themselves.  Bournemouth have yet to play a friendly match as they begin their preseason a little later than others.

West Ham  had a respectable mid table finish in the league and will be looking to improve this season. begun the long return to match fitness with one of their 1^st competitive friendlies of preseason. West Ham have already done a bit of wheeling and dealing in the close season. Out has gone Carlton Cole and Gary O’Neill, neither player will be greatly missed. In so far has been the permanent signing of Andy Carroll, while Razvan Rat has jetted in from Donetsk. Fitness levels will have improved a little after their opening friendly in Ireland was followed up by a visit to near neighbours Boreham Wood. Two back to back wins and 9 goals with only 2 conceded have proven decent returns for the Hammers.

The odds are usually in the region of 1.40 for West Ham in this annual visit to Boothferry Park. However with the improved fortunes of Bournemouth we see inflated odds of 2.00 West Ham (WillHill) I would take these odds now as I cannot see them lasting long. West Ham will be ahead of their rivals in fitness terms as they have two games under their belt already. Hammers are a better side too and should be a bit shorter for me.
