Portuguese Supercup opens the season for the top league in the country, its Porto the league winners against Victoria Guimaraes the cup winners. Aveiro  is the location for this match

 Porto have been one of the most successful sides in Portugal over the last few years, made all the more remarkable as they constantly ship their best players out. With a template of buying promising players, developing them and selling for huge profit Porto are reaping benefits and cashing in while still being successful. With 27 league titles and 6 of the last 7 Porto are really pushing on. Porto have been very busy already in club friendlies with 7 games, they have 6 wins so far and 1 defeat. With 21 goals scored and just 4 conceded in a series of games against decent opposition.

Victoria Guimaraes are generally classes as the biggest side outside the traditional “big 3” Indeed they did spring a surprise last year grabbing the Taca de Portugal with a late win over Benfica. They are usually to found in the top six at least and are always there abouts for places in Europe. The side is a decent one and quite a strong, balanced squad. Central defender Mo Diaye leaves the side and will be a loss. Incoming though are a trio of strikers: Darwin Machis, Hernani and Jona.

 I expect Porto to win here although the odds are very restrictive, 1.20 on the league winners is not a great price. Looking around the extra markets the handicaps are well set and I don’t fancy backing Porto to win by three which is around the midline. I’m taking Porto To Win To Nil which is 1.80 William Hill and the most value I can see here. The win looks assured and Porto look by far the better side so a clean sheet looks good here.
