Malaga currently sit 5^th in La Liga on 18 points (W5 D3 L2) but have seen inconsistency creep into their form of late (WLWDL). At home they have been pretty impressive until last weekend’s defeat at the hands of Rayo Vallecano. Their games have been low scoring at 2.10 goals per game and half have seen over 2.5 goals.

Sociedad lie 16^th in the league but are only 8 points below their hosts on 10 points (W3 D1 L6). Their form has been quite poor as they are without a win in 4 games (WLLDL) and away from home they have only secured one point; a draw in their most recent game. Their games have averaged more goals at 2.50 a game but have seen fewer over 2.5 goals, just 4 of their 10 games.

Malaga are missing Monreal and long-term absentees Toulalan and Baptista while Sociedad are without a number of players including Cadamuro, Zurutuza, Bravo and Elustondo.

Malaga have been in sensational form in Europe but their league form seems to have suffered. They have slipped off the pace of the likes of Barcelona and Atletico and this may come down to the fact they have secured just one win off the back of a midweek game and have seen a few too many draws. The fact their sole home defeat came last weekend may dash their confidence.

Sociedad have been poor of late and away from home they have struggled all season. I suspect they will need to score more goals in order to move up the table. They may struggle to break down this Malaga defence and they are fairly prone to conceding away from home but for me they will have to get at their opponents.

Looking at Malaga’s form in domestic games off the back of midweek Champions League ventures is interesting. Just one slim win and plenty of draws. Their trip to Milan would have taken a lot out of the players and without too many days to recover and prepare for this game I can see Sociedad shocking the favourites and with Malaga’s price probably too short I believe the value lies in the draw at a price of 4.33 with Stan James.
