Week 3 England Premier League - Tips and selections
Manchester United opens the weekend’s fixtures for the third week running, but we will not speak of an English FA bias. They are in the middle of the Champions League playoffs but a 3-1 lead to take to Bruges should be enough to see them through. LVG may make qualification a priority though so we may see a few benchwarmers in this game against Newcastle. United have two 1-0 wins to their name and sit joint top of the table. Newcastle drew with Southampton but lost to Swansea in a tough opening run of fixtures. We think Newcastle have a chance here and take the +1.5 goals at 4/5 with BetVictor.
Crystal Palace hosts Aston Villa in a very tough game to break down. Palace beat Norwich in East Anglia 3-1 but lost to Arsenal 2-1. For me the more telling result was the loss for they did match Arsenal for most of the game which is hugely positive. Aston Villa have won one and lost one but haven’t really done much in two games. They barely troubled Romero in the 1-0 loss to Man Utd, while the 1-0 win over Bournemouth was a solid if uninspiring performance. Goals look good in this one due to Palace being very lax and Villa being better on the counter. Both score yes at Evs with Betfair is an excellent price at Evs.
Leicester v Tottenham should be a real spectacle at King Power stadium. Leicester and Ranieri have surprised everyone with their exciting brand of football and even the loss of Cambiasso has not been felt. Yet again they surpise with the addition of the excellent Gokhan Inler. That they cannot be split oddswise against Spurs show how high they are rated. Leicester have won both games, defeating West Ham and Sunderland. Spurs have yet to record a win, they lost on opening day against Man Utd and drew 2-2 against Stoke last week. In patches they have played some excellent stuff but they are switching off at times and their defending against Stoke in the latter stages was comically bad. Goals are assured here and the bet Over 2.50 goals at 1.86 10bet looks a certainty.
Norwich v Stoke is one of our featured bets and the full breakdown can be read here.
Sunderland v Swansea gets us confirmation of whether Sunderland really is doomed. Sunderland has lost both games, Leicester 4-2 and Norwich 3-1. Two of the sides tipped for relegation. So if they can concede 7 to these lot they could easily get thumped here by inform Swansea. The Swans had chances to beat champions Chelsea as they went 2-2 and were a man up after the loss of Courtois. They would be happy with the draw though and took that into the Newcastle game in which they won 2-0. The two strikers Ayew and Gomis are a promising partnership and have 4 between them already. We take Swansea here at 11-10 at bet365.
West Ham v Bournemouth sees our “Tip of the Day” and can be found here.
West Brom v Chelsea is another of our weekend selections. Read more in this link.
Everton v Man City is another cracking game this weekend. Everton always raise their game and the crowd always comes to life whenever they play the “big boys” Everton were unusually lax opening day and were lucky to come away with a 2-2 draw at home to promoted Watford. They attacked well but defended awfully. However they wiped all the bad memories out with a scintillating performance at St Marys as they battered Southampton 3-0 in one of their best performances in years. Roberto Martinez may have stumbled on the key to freeing Lukaku. He partnered him with Aroune Kone and the two of them came alive, with Lukaku unplayable at times. They will need all their wits about them to trouble Man City. City have two 3-0 wins to their name, beating West Brom on day one and then trouncing Champions Chelsea last week. Not happy with that they go out and spend £40m on defender Nicolas Otamendi. I like Everton but cannot see them matching City here, I think the odd goal could settle it in a very tight one indeed. Man City to win at 3-4 Willhill.
Watford have acquitted themselves well to the Premiership. They have two draws so far, a 2-2 at Everton and a 0-0 at home to West Brom. In both games they had the upper hand so are not daunted but the jump in class. Southampton are yet to win in the league, drawing at Newcastle 2-2 before a home shellacking. Losing 3-0 to Everton in game they were never in. Southampton is experiencing the difficulty that is competing on two fronts. Games against Vitesse Arhem sandwiched their league games and they played last Thursday also, drawing with Midjylland. We take the fresher Watford draw no bet at 1.95 bet365.
Final game of the week is the best of all with Arsenal hosting Liverpool. Arsenal has one win and one loss in a muddling start to the season. They battered West Ham for long periods of the opening match but lost 2-0! Then went toe to toe with a strong looking Crystal Palace and deserved a 2-1 win. Liverpool has yet to really get going but the fans won’t be complaining as they are 2 wins from 2 with 2 clean sheets! Will be interesting to see how they get on here and if they somehow get a win the fans will be in dreamland. This will be a very tight game for me for sure. Liverpool doesn’t have a good record on the road against Arsenal, with the home side winning the last 4 and drawing the other one. Im going with Both teams score No at 11-10 Betfair.
Good luck and may all your bets be winners!
