World Cup winner odds

Many of the teams going into the tournament surely dream of winning. Here is some initial comments on them.

Brazil to win the world cup

Brazil is obviously the big favorite to win. Unibet, William Hill and Paddy Power all offer 4 times your money if they should go ahead and win. After impressing in the Confederations Cup, and boasting a squad with world beating talent those odds are pretty good.

Spain to win the 2014 world cup

Spain can’t be forgotten either. Having dominated world football for quite some time with their possession oriented play there are now some questions being asked by other nations. However, with all the stars they’ve got and all the glory they’ve achieved: Betting them at 8.0 with Paddy Power makes a lot of sense.

Germany to win the world cup in Brazil

Germany is another hot candidate for the title. The Germans have had a young generation getting close a couple of times now. It is now time for this golden generation to deliver. Just look at the efforts of Dortmund and the fantastic Bayern Munich in the two recent seasons. This German team is priced up at 7 with Coral

England to win the world cup comments

England is a dark horse this time. Even if the Three Lions actually bring a better squad to Brazil 2014 than to the last couple of championships the odds in the market does really not reflect that. 33 times your stake from Bet365 is very generous.

Argentina to win the world cup in Brazil 2014

Argentina is another team worth mentioning. With arguably the best player in the world in recent years; Lionel Messi and a string of other top notch talents this is a real threat to the aforementioned teams. As you can imagine, the odds are pretty short. You get 6 times your money with Paddy Power if you believe in Messi, Di Maria, Lavezzi and Co.

France to win in Brazil 2014

France has a solid squad. As usual the question is unity. Can the French stand each other and everyone else for the duration of the World Cup? They certainly have enough talent in the squad to challenge. Looking at the squad selection it looks right to leave out Nasri. All though he had a good season for Manchester City he is a proven trouble maker. Looks like his GF is too given the mess she made on Twitter after her loved one wasn't selected for the tournament.

If you think the problems are gone with Nasri, you can you can get 23 times your money at BET365. Interesting odds indeed.

Belgium - an outsider to win the world cup

Belgium is another outsider. The team played great football in the qualification. They certainly got some top drawer players: Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Axel Witsel, Toby Alderweireld and Thomas Vermaelen to name a few. They may lack some experience though, so the question is: Can their youth and energy take them all the way? If you think yes, then you can get odds of 19 with BET365.

Uruguay - super price to win the 2014 world cup in Brazil

Uruguay is definitely an outsider too. With Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani up front and a lot of quality further back on the pitch this side can go places. They looked troubled in qualification, but come competition time: Do not be surprised to see this side go far, perhaps all the way.

I for once like the odds on them as William Hill and Coral both offer 29 times your money. Really top drawer odds that!

Odds on Italy to win the world cup in Brazil 2014

Italy can never be forgotten when the big tournaments begin. This side is by many not given much of a chance, but look at the squad. It is filled with talent. Pure talent! 26 times your money is the odds on offer at BET365. Given the history of Italy, those odds look like value to me.

Group Winner Bets

You might get a bit shorter odds on these world cup group winner odds compared to odds to win the World Cup, but then again it should be easier in theory to pick the winner.

Group A winner odds

The best odds on offer at the time of writing are as follows:

Brazil

1.25

BET365

Mexico

10.00

Coral

Croatia

10.00

Ladbrokes

Cameroon

34.00

Victor

Brazil is the obvious pick. With home support, a top notch squad and the world looking I do not see them failing. You can also get 2.62 with Paddy Power for Croatia to finish second in the group. Decent odds too!

Group B winner odds

Spain

1.78

Unibet

Netherlands

4.00

Coral

Chile

5.00

BET365

Australia

101.00

Coral

This group could yield some surprises. I do however see Spain winning the group on experience and style of play. Chile could easily overtake Netherlands though as they most likely will play 3-5-2. I see them getting big problems with that against Chile and their pacey wingers. You can get 3.00 for Chile to finish second from Paddy Power.

Group C winner odds

Colombia

1.80

BET365

Ivory Coast

5.00

Coral

Japan

6.00

Victor

Greece

8.50

Coral

Colombia is an extraordinary side and even if Falcao is a doubt they should win this group easily. As the odds indicate, it is relatively open who will finish second.

Group D winner odds

Italy

2.75

Paddy Power

Uruguay

2.88

Coral

England

3.25

BET365

Costa Rica

67.00

Sportingbet

Very interesting group this! For me Uruguay is the best side here, so I will go with them as the group winner. Second place is a tie for me between England and Italy.

Group E winner odds

France

1.80

William Hill

Switzerland

3.75

BET365

Ecuador

5.50

William Hill

Honduras

34.00

BET365

France has the squad, but I think the odds are too short given the drama that usually follows the French. I rather back them in a more drastic bet. Something like; to reach the final! Here I rather go for a much improved Switzerland at 3.75. Then I take France to finish second priced at 3.10 with Paddy Power.

Group F winner odds

Argentina

1.22

BET365

Bosnia & Herzegovina

8.50

Ladbrokes

Nigeria

10.00

BET365

Iran

67.00

Sportingbet

For me there is really not much doubt here. I can’t see Argentina failing here. The opposition they got should not come close. I think Nigeria and Bosnia will fight for second and I rate them of similar caliber.

Group G winner odds

Germany

1.57

William Hill

Portugal

3.75

BET365

USA

12.00

BET365

Ghana

17.00

Sportingbet

Germany should be able to win this. They got a massive team. Portugal relies too much on Ronaldo in my opinion, but if he is on top form 3.75 is very good as the difference in quality will be greatly reduced.

Group H winner odds

Belgium

1.67

BET365

Russia

3.20

BET365

South Korea

9.00

William Hill

Algeria

29.00

BET365

Belgium is the best side here, but Russia is a value play for group winner. I think the strength difference between these two is minimal. Russia is a well set up team with some fantastic technical ability. Belgium will get a run for their money for sure.

Live betting

Live betting has over the years become far more popular than pre-game betting. Understandably so! The action is so fierce! It brings the punter much closer to what goes on. In many ways this could make it easier to win. However, temptation to bet everything under the sun and the moon might ultimately lead you into a sureloss situation. Don't do that! I suggest you go to Howtobet.net during the world cup matches for live betting tips to be found in the Shoutbox on our home page.

In order to fully enjoy the live betting experience I suggest you open an account with the following bookmakers (who I find to have a really good live betting offering):

BET365

William Hill

Betsson

Unibet

Mobile betting

If you plan on sitting in the sofa while watching the games you can still get in on the betting action even without moving your muscular ass to pick up the laptop, or God forbid, go all the way to the desk. Mobile betting has gradually grown, and is now representing over 25% of the annual betting turnover for several large betting operations. The User Interfaces has gradually improved, and you no longer need to have the patience of a brain surgeon to navigate a bookmaker selection from your mobile. I suggest you plan ahead and  open a betting account with the following brands, that I find to be strong on mobile.

Unibet

BET365

ComeOn

Betsson
