Moldova not surprisingly failed to get out of a tough group containing England, Ukraine, Montenegro and Poland, but didn’t disgrace themselves, and they finished the group with two wins. They have also won their last two friendly fixtures 3-0 at Andorra and 4-0 in Saudi Arabia, so are a country in fair form given its limits. Canada have gone fifteen games without a win, and had failed to score in their last ten before Fridays 1-1 draw with Bulgaria. That game like this was played in Austria, and again Canada will pick from the same mainly young squad with several of their MLS based players unavailable.
