GERMANY V GHANA: PREDICTIONS AND BETTING TIPS

Germany opened with an impressive 4-0 win over Portugal, and produced the most comprehensive performance seen yet in this World Cup. It was already 2-0 when Portugal where reduced to ten men, and Thomas Muller staked his claim to repeat his golden boot feat of the last world cup with a hat trick. There were warnings at the back though, as Portugal did have early chances, and the likely injury miss of Matt Hummels in defence would leave options light there. Overall, if Germany can keep up this level of performance they are very likely winners of this tournament in my view.

Ghana began with a 2-1 defeat to the USA, but they will feel aggrieved at the result after dominating much of the play. A sucker punch in conceding after just 30 seconds they found their way back into the game and finally equalised after 82 minutes. Four minutes later though they failed to defend a set piece and were punished again, and it was too late to respond. They have enough going forward to be a worry to the Germans, but sloppy defending themselves will be punished ruthlessly by the potent German offense you would think.

RUN OF PLAY:

After losing their opening match Ghana must go for the win here and that could open up the game nicely to suit the Germans. Germany impressed me hugely in their opener, and it baffled that many so called experts had the down on their chances pre tournament. Much was made of Klose being the only named striker, but in Muller, Gotze, Podolski, Schurrle, Draxler and Ozil the midfield carries a greater goal threat itself than many nations. An exciting game looks assured, and as Ghana become frustrated the ruthless Germans may pick them off at will.
