JAPAN V GREECE: PREDICTIONS AND BETTING TIPS

Japan were disappointing really in their 2-1 opening defeat to Ivory Coast. After leading 1-0 through a smart Honda strike I thought they would go on to control the game, but if anything the opposite happened and they got what they deserved-nothing. The Japan central defence is a huge cause for concern, and you would never be confident of them keeping a clean sheet, even against a far from prolific Greek side. They do have plenty going forward, and fitness is never an issue with them though, which is a definite positive in the conditions.

Losing an early goal was a disaster for Greece in their opener with Colombia, and though they had chances, most notably Gekas glaring miss, they were very much second best, though 3-0 was perhaps a touch harsh on them. In all honesty there is nothing in the side to get you excited, and with wins needed now it is hard to see where the creativity and goals are going to come from.

RUN OF PLAY:

Japan need to keep possession better than they did in the opening game, but if they do then they should be able to break down the Greek resistance. Greece need to find a way of getting at a far from convincing Japan defence under pressure, and that will mean them being more adventurous rather than the usual cautious approach. It is a must win game for both sides after they lost their openers, and it could come down to a case of who wants it more.
