PORTUGAL V GHANA: PREDICTIONS AND BETTING TIPS the story so far

Portugal have failed to impress in the opening matches, losing heavily 4-0 to Germany before a 2-2 draw with the USA. Against USA, particularly after leading they were very disappointing and needed a goal in the ninety fifth minute to rescue a point. Ronaldo has been well below his best as doubts about his fitness remain, and though Pepe(def) will return after suspension here, Coentrao(def) and Almeida(str) are big doubts with injury.

Ghana has played well in both games but have just one point to show for their efforts. An opening 2-1 loss to the USA was harsh as they were the better side for most of the game, and in the 2-2 draw with Germany a fabulous second half display saw them lead 2-1, before getting pegged back to 2-2. Muntari(mid) will be an important suspension miss after getting two yellow cards and Essien(mid) looks unlikely to figure due to injury.

RUN OF PLAY:

Both sides must go for the win here to stand any chance of progressing and hope the other game does not end in a draw. On what we have seen Ghana have been the better of these two sides, unlucky to have just a solitary point and with a goal difference of -1 as opposed to Portugals -4 they have the more realistic prospects of making the knockout stages. Portugal have been very poor and they are too reliant on Ronaldo, who has sadly been below par and it is time for some of the others to step forward from the shadows as they probably will require a win by at least a couple of goals to stand any chance of progression. The problem for them is who will that be?
